What made you start a blog?
I first started my blog when I was in University. My course was around media, culture and journalism and for one of my chosen modules, I had to build a blog site and populate it with content. It's a boring start, I know. But I knew it would be something I'd enjoy before I even started the course and throughout uni, it was a place where I could write about the things that interest me. I've always had a love of writing and my blog sort of became my creative outlet.
Whats your blog about?
My blog is lifestyle orientated so I talk about fashion, beauty, travel, health & fitness, opinion pieces and I have a lot of focus on life in Cardiff, the city that I live near. I think it's a very diverse range of topics but I think that's what keeps things interesting, well for me anyway. I've tried to make it almost like reading a magazine so topics are usually mixed up a lot.
What are your favourite blogs to write?
I've really started to enjoy writing opinion pieces lately purely because it's great to really get stuck into writing a blog that I'm passionate about. And so far, they've gone down pretty well with my followers which has been fantastic. But for a general rule, my favourite topics are travel and food in Cardiff. I absolutely love travelling and I'm super passionate about food (both statements are evident from my Instagram).
What's your tips on starting a blog?
I would probably say to have a clear idea about what you want to write about. Also, building a website can be frustrating at times so just take your time with it and don't finish until you're completely happy with the end design.
Were you scared about a starting a blog?
I wasn't scared about starting my blog because I've always loved writing and I knew I had to do it to pass my module but I was scared of what other people would think of it if or when they found out. I was scared people were going to make fun of me but looking at it now, I realise that none of that should matter. I write my blog because it makes me happy and it's great to be a part of the blogging community.
And what would say to people who are scared about starting a blog?
There's absolutely no reason to be scared. If you're passionate about writing or taking pictures or if you just want to do it for the hell of it, then do it. The blogging community is wonderful and on days when you feel like there's too much to write or too many photos to take or you haven't got enough of a following, they help to build you back up. Never be scared to do something that you want to do.
